On one of my walks this week I saw this painting in San Diego. I wondered who he was, and why someone decided to paint an entire wall about him. I thought he probably was a migrant worker, or perhaps he was a political figure in town I had never heard of or the owner of the store it was painted on?

Did you know statistically…

50% of what we hear someone say is misunderstood
23.4 impressions are based on first appearances
It takes 7 seconds to form a first impression.
And here is the kicker.
Data reveals that 95% of people believe they are self-aware, but the real number is 12-15 % which means on a good day, about 80% of people are lying about themselves- to themselves.

To be happy, I ask myself what really matters every day, and throughout the day. That keeps things real for me. I find being in touch with how I feel and who I help guide my work and relationships.

I ask myself how I am communicating with this person. Am I making myself clear? Since I am meeting most people virtually these days, how am I coming across? Am I smiling, being authentic, empathetic? Do I look like I really care about our conversation?

That painting like all good art opened many questions about who he was, and who I was as well.
TODAY, think about those statistics. These are part of the foundation I speak with my clients about.
